Routes:
Top 3: Unforgettable Motorcycle Routes departing From the Campsite
1) The Big Loop: Gorges de l’Ardèche to Mont Ventoux
This route connects two absolute highlights and is a dream for every motorcyclist. From our motorcycle campsite, you’ll head towards Vallon-Pont-d’Arc and the world-famous Gorges de l’Ardèche – a route inextricably linked to the Ardèche and motorcycles. You’ll ride along one of the most beautiful motorcycle routes in France, with the Pont d’Arc as a spectacular starting point.
Cross the Rhône at Pont-Saint-Esprit and continue via Sainte-Cécile-les-Vignes and Vaison-la-Romaine towards the “Bald Mountain.” You’ll bridge the iconic Mont Ventoux via Malaucène and then descend via the D974.
The return journey is equally scenic: via Carpentras, Bagnols-sur-Cèze, and Goudargues, you’ll follow the beautiful Cèze Valley and Beaulieu. The route is the perfect mix of challenging bends and peaceful stops. Moreover, from our campsite you can easily stop to take photos and rest, so you can fully enjoy the beautiful views of the Gorges de l’Ardèche.
2) The Mountain Pass Route via Mont Gerbier de Jonc
This 120 km route reveals all the typical, breathtaking landscapes of the region. From our motorcycle campsite, you’ll head towards Lablachère, where the journey begins with a beautiful road winding through dense pine forests. As you climb, these give way to the iconic chestnut trees.
The route continues past the granite chaos of Montselgues, before reaching the tranquil little spa town of Saint-Laurent-les-Bains. Here, a challenging mountain pass awaits, just as exhilarating as the preceding descent!
Water, Rocks, and Views
Next, you’ll follow the border between the Ardèche and Lozère regions, accompanied by the Allier River, which here completes the first kilometers of its long journey to the Loire. The magic of geography! We leave this charming, still young river to reach the Meyrand Pass, where you’ll admire breathtaking scenery from a viewpoint.
The descent to Valgorge is a highlight in itself. The road takes you to the bottom of the Labeaume valley, nestled between steep cliffs, carved by a rapid that relentlessly carves its way through the riverbed. This route requires a moderate pace; only with a motorcycle can you stop at secluded spots to truly admire the triumph of the water over the rocks.
The Perfect Return Trip
The winding but safe road then takes you back to the Arleblanc motorcycle campsite. The surface is perfect, the scenery breathtaking, and there’s little traffic. This is an excellent motorcycle route in the Ardèche and an unforgettable end to your day.
3) The Grand Tour: Corniche of the Cevennes – 150 km
This is the route for the true explorer. From our motorcycle-friendly campsite, you’ll ride to the charming town of Les Vans and follow the spectacular Chassezac Gorges on the D113. The route quickly becomes adventurous: the border between Ardèche and Lozère is marked by La Borne and the picturesque villages of Sainte-Marguerite-Lafigère and Pied-de-Borne.
The tour continues along the Lozère side. You’ll ride along the Altier River, which fills the beautiful Lake Villefort. Then, you’ll take the challenging “Circuit du Mont Lozère” (Mont Lozère Circuit), through the center of Villefort, past Mas de la Barque and over the breathtaking Col du Près de la Dame (1,450 m) on the D66.
Return via the historic village of Portes, highly recommended, turning off just before the castle, then Les Vans and back to Arleblanc. A day full of rugged panoramas and pure riding pleasure!
